How to Install Bonus Tools for Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack
Again and again we faced the problem when some software gets relatively small update and it's plugins suddenly stops working. Bonus Tools for Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack not become an exception and didn't work if installed as is, even if in Maya 2011 Service Pack 1 they work just fine. Fortunately there is a easy fix for this and with some manipulations Bonus Tools can be installed to work with Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack.
All right then, for this we will need a Bonus Tools for Maya 2011 install file ( I use x64 version, so in this example and next I will refer to x64 version, but for x32 workflow must be pretty same ), have Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack installed and a small utility program called Orca ( .msi files editor, archive with this utility is attached to this post ). The trick is to correct one database entry in Bonus Tools installation file to represent changes in Maya version number, which is 2011.5 for Subscription Advantage Pack ( for Service Pack it was 2011 ).
How to fix Bonus Tools installation file
1. Install Orca, then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Orca and run Orca.exe
2. In opened window go to File-Open and select Bonus Tools install file, in my case it was MayaBonusTools2011_win64.msi
3. In left column find a Property string and click it. In appeared list in second column find MODULEVERSION string and change it's Value to 2011.5-x64
4. Save edited file with File--Save.
That's it! Run the corrected MayaBonusTools2011_win64.msi and now install process shall be executed correctly, so you will see Bonus Tools menu in Maya. For 32-bit versions the process must be almost the same.
