New Release Date for PS Vita — 31 December 2011?

in category.

As the end of this year approaches and many times speculated Sony PlayStation Vita release goes along with it, gamers from Europe and United States still are under confusion by the question — when the PS Vita actually wil be released? Looks like one of the biggest internet markets is ready to unveil this mystery — accordingly to new information from Amazon, release date for PS Vita can be December, 31th.

PlayStation Vita on Amazon

Let me remind that previously possible release date for PSP successor considered November, 11, but later Sony vice-president Kazuo Hirai in interview with Associated Press reporters told that PS Vita will not be ready for release in USA and Europe this year, while still will get its way to Japan before the 2012. Accordingly to Sony plans, PS Vita price will be $249 for model with Wi-Fi, while cost for 3G modification will be $299.

Now Amazon has started taking pre-orders for Vita with mentioned above prices, having release date given as December, 31. If this information is true, first purchasers will get new Sony's handheld console in first days of 2012.

However, there is still high probability that 31 December was given as the temporarily placeholder because the real release date is unclear for now, and will change to something else when it'll become known.

Different rumors about possible release date for PS Vita were circulating from the time of NGP ( Next Generation Portable ) announce, which took place in late January of this year. During this period only one become clear: Sony itself have doubts on when PS Vita actually wil be released, or they intentionally mystify release date to stir interest for their upcoming handheld console. In any case, looks like world is in just few months away from new Sony masterpiece.

Update: PS Vita will be released in Japan on December, 17. Thus my theory about Amazon date as a placeholder gets stronger.
