in category.
Nvidia Normal LogoAt last! After couple of years of waiting, hope and prayers now we have NVIDIA Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop updated to version 8.5 with support for CS4, CS5 and x64 platforms ( that's it, plug-in will work in 64bit versions of Photoshop ). Now hobbyists and professionals from all around the world can stop jumping from Photoshop x64 to x32 and reverse if they need to create Normal Maps. Bye-bye, x32, we will never see you again xD.

Nvidia Normal Map Filter and DDS Plug-in x64 ( 64bit ) for Photoshop

NVIDIA Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop have two main components:
  • NormalMapFilter — filter for Photoshop that can convert any image to normal map. It works on Height2Normal algorithm, so source image must have darker parts representing the "deep" and lighter parts as elevations ( as the Bump Map does ). In other words — not any raw image can be converted to quality normal map, and if you need one — it's may be better to process source image by hands. Filter has many options for Normal Map generation procedure and ability to preview the result in 3D View window.
NVIDIA NormalMapFilter
  • DDS Plug-In — allows to open and save .dds files, compressed with DXTC algorithm ( files with .dds extension ), choose required compression profile and more. DDS format ( Direct Draw Surface ) is widely used in game production and often game model textures compressed with it.

On NVIDIA Developer Zone you can download Nvidia Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop and other tools, or use direct links below for downloading plug-in version 8.5:

NVIDIA Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop (32-bit) (8.51.0301.0345)
NVIDIA Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop (64-bit) (8.51.0301.0345)

P.S. Be careful with any manipulations with your textures and always save your work before apply any filter. In general it's good practice to save often and in different files.

Hey balloon Thanks for your feedback, I'm working hard to make it even better. Glad that you like it. :)

Does this work for Adobe Photoshop CS5?

Yes, it works perfectly fine for me :)

in my photoshop cs5.1 i cannot find 3d and analise tab. Can this help to evive those tabs?

No. As far as I know — those tabs available only in Photoshop CS5 Extended. Looks like you have a "simple" Photoshop CS5 without "Extended" properties, so this options is unavailable.

dude i have extended and i got my tabs back..i was using 64 bit version but tabs were available in 32 bit version only.
But overall Thanx ;D

That's strange, I use 64-bit Photoshop CS5 and all tabs are in place... Well, nevermind, you got them nowballoon

Please tell me how to install it and where I found it in photoshop cs5..???
