SCAR-L Rifle Model with FN40GL Grenade Launcher and Reflex Sight
Yay! This is my SCAR-L STD ( Standart ) rifle model with FN40GL grenade launcher, tactical flashlight and reflex ( red dot ) sight. Original rifle model was provided by client, my task was to add grenade launcher geometry, make additional attachments like sight or flashlight ( done both ) and refine the textures. In overall my task was to overhaul entire model and make it look sexy and cool.
Among the other things I'd like to mention that creation of this model was a pretty difficult task — I had a small bit of experience in weapon modeling, but it was a way simplier model in comparison with complexity of SCAR-L. This time I have to deal with xNormal to bake Ambient Occlusion from hi-poly to low-poly model, because Maya handles it terrifyingly slow and output result was pretty bad. Still, after the long struggle with cages, normal mapping issues and some other stuff I can say that now I'm very happy with final result.
This model now is used as primary weapon of main character in demo maps of NeoAxis Engine SDK 1.1, which was released recently. Get the details about NeoAxis Engine 1.1 here..
Used textures: Rifle — Diffuse, Specular, Normal, Ambient Occlusion ( baked to Diffuse ), 2048x2048 px each. Grenade Launcher + attachments — Diffuse, Specular, Normal, Ambient Occlusion ( baked to Diffuse ), 1024x1024 px each.
